Ukrainians Received Nearly Half a Billion Hryvnias in State Cashback Program for June 2024

By the end of June 2024, Ukrainian citizens accumulated almost half a billion hryvnias through the national cashback program — precisely, 490 million hryvnias — marking a significant milestone for the government initiative launched in September 2024.
The Ministry of Economy reported that payouts were made to users who activated their cards via the 'Diia' app and accumulated over 2 hryvnias in cashback from purchasing Ukrainian-made goods.
These funds can be spent until the end of 2025 on utility bills, purchasing books, medicines, or directed towards charity, government bonds, or donations to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Currently, the program covers about 400,000 products — from food items to furniture, cosmetics, and pet supplies.
Major national shopping chains, pharmacies, gas stations, as well as numerous regional stores and outlets, have joined this initiative.
The goal of the program is to stimulate demand for Ukrainian products by offering a 10% cashback on each purchase.
Users can easily verify whether a product is eligible by scanning its barcode through the 'Diia' application.
To participate, individuals need to submit an application through the website or mobile app of one of 20 authorized banks, designate their payment cards, and open a dedicated 'National Cashback' card — either physical or virtual.
Activation of this card within the 'Diia' app is required.
Importantly, cashback funds are tax-free and cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred to other accounts.
This mechanism encourages targeted spending on utilities, books, medicines, or charitable donations, thereby supporting local Ukrainian producers and businesses.
The initiative continues to grow in popularity, reflecting a strong governmental effort to bolster the economy and domestic demand, with the primary expenditures being utility bills for heating and other services.
