Ukraine Renames Ministry of Culture to Ministry of Culture and Youth: A Step Towards Historical Recognition

Chas Pravdy - 31 October 2025 11:26

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a significant decision to update the structure of government agencies in the fields of culture and information policy.

According to Resolution No.

1396, published on the official government website on October 29, 2025, the Ministry of Culture will be renamed the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

This change involves a two-week period during which the ministry must prepare and submit proposals for amending existing legislative acts to reflect the new name.

This historic name change continues a reform process that began in 2014 when the agency first received its current title.

Just two days prior, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Mykola Tovitsky as Minister of Culture, and in 2025, the ministry underwent further leadership changes, with new officials appointed to drive strategic reforms.

Notably, Tetyana Berezhna, an experienced lawyer who previously served as Deputy Minister of Economy and oversaw policies related to labor and employment, is set to lead the rebranded ministry.

This marks a new chapter in Ukraine’s cultural policy development, emphasizing preservation and promotion of national heritage amidst contemporary challenges.
