Chas Pravdy - 24 October 2025 07:19

Within the historic walls of Kyiv Sophia Cathedral, one of Ukraine’s most iconic cultural landmarks, the annual contemporary ceramics festival, titled «ThisClay 2025», has commenced.

This year’s theme, «Memory of Clay», symbolizes not only the preservation of Ukrainian traditions but also their reinterpretation through modern art.

The event features an exhibition of works by 25 artists who blend traditional folk motifs with innovative experimental techniques and contemporary materials.

This hybrid approach reveals new facets of clay as a medium capable of safeguarding cultural heritage while simultaneously pioneering new artistic trends.

Special attention is paid to Ukrainian ceramists living abroad, many forced to leave Ukraine due to the ongoing war.

Their pieces convey personal stories of loss and nostalgia, yet they also affirm the resilience of Ukrainian cultural identity, which continues to thrive and evolve despite geographical distances.

Earlier, the National Art Museum of Ukraine showcased an exhibition titled «Oleksandr Murashko.

Color Modulations» dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the artist Olexander Murashko (1875–1919), displaying over 50 paintings and graphics from the museum’s collection, emphasizing his significant contribution to Ukrainian art.
