Rising COVID-19 Hospitalizations in Kyiv: Surge in Severe Cases and Risks in Enclosed Spaces

Chas Pravdy - 07 August 2025 21:18

Kyiv is experiencing a significant uptick in COVID-19 hospital admissions, with figures soaring notably during July compared to previous months.

According to the Kyiv City Healthcare Department, the number of residents requiring inpatient care due to complications has increased more than fourfold.

At the beginning of July, only 15 patients were hospitalized in infectious wards, but by the month’s end, that number grew to 68, including 24 children.

This trend indicates a rise in severe cases needing continuous medical supervision, complex treatment, and oxygen support.

Experts warn residents about the heightened risk of infection, especially in confined spaces with poor ventilation.

Enclosed environments such as shelters and rooms lacking proper airflow facilitate virus transmission, significantly increasing infection chances during active disease spread.
