Peace in the World Depends on Sustained Support for Ukraine — ISW Analyst

The resolution of armed conflicts in any region of the world can only be achieved through consistent and coordinated international backing of Ukraine by its allies.

Currently, the key to peace lies not just in ceasing hostilities but in providing ongoing assistance to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, enabling it to effectively resist Russian aggression.

Mason Clark, an analyst from the Institute for the Study of War, emphasizes that a fair and lasting peace will only materialize if NATO and EU countries actively participate by providing both financial and military support, as well as developing their own defense industries to produce necessary weapons and equipment.

Establishing joint production and fully leveraging Europe’s industrial capacity to supply Ukraine is a more strategic approach than repeatedly turning to Washington for aid, which may not always materialize.

Such measures would allow Ukraine to build a long-term, independent defense system, strengthening its negotiating position with Russia and accelerating its exit from the war.

Regarding international backing, Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance has already calculated the funding needed for the next two years.

Leading political bodies highlight the readiness of most NATO countries to finance and support logistics for arms procurement through the PURL initiative, endorsed by the U.S.

administration.

However, several member states remain under pressure and have yet to join this program, complicating future planning and collaboration efforts.
