Ukraine and Slovakia Strengthen Diplomatic Ties in a Regionally Significant Dialogue
In Košice, Slovakia, the long-awaited direct intergovernmental consultations between Ukraine and Slovakia took place, opening a new chapter in bilateral cooperation amid increasing geopolitical tensions across Europe.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico engaged in substantive discussions aimed at enhancing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The consultations underscored a shared commitment to halt escalation and emphasized solidarity in defending Ukraine’s independence.
Fico highlighted the importance of such dialogue for reinforcing European unity and security, reaffirming Slovakia’s unwavering support for sanctions against Russia, particularly urging for the adoption of the EU’s 19th sanctions package during the upcoming EU summit.
Additionally, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, during a meeting at the UN General Assembly in New York, engaged with his Slovak counterpart Juraj Bľanár, focusing on strategic security and energy issues crucial for European stability.
These diplomatic efforts reflect a coordinated approach to safeguarding peace and stability in the region.
