Russia funds gas supplies for Transnistria: region regains heating and hot water
Recent developments confirm that Russia has once again financed the supply of natural gas to Moldova’s separatist region of Transnistria, which is crucial for stabilizing the heating season in the area.
As of October 17, full gas supplies have been restored to this breakaway territory, allowing the return of hot water and the commencement of the heating period.
This was made possible through financial assistance from Russia covering fuel import costs.
Previously, gas supplies faced serious difficulties due to a period of acute shortages caused by the change of intermediary company handling payments for Russian gas, which led to a crisis in the region.
Energy authorities in Moldova note that the situation has stabilized, and residents of Transnistria can now rely on heating and hot water during the colder months.
This decision was facilitated by a complex purchasing scheme involving Hungarian and Dubai-registered companies, enabling Russia to maintain control over supplies.
Consequently, the energy supply crisis in the region has been alleviated, and local residents are celebrating the return of essential communal services.
This move signifies a significant step in regional politics and cooperation, offering hope for reduced tensions ahead of winter.
