Kremlin remains uncertain about logistics for Putin’s trip to Budapest for Trump meeting

Currently, the Kremlin faces an ambiguous situation regarding the organization of Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s visit to Budapest for a meeting with U.S.

President Donald Trump.

Officials explained that the logistics of Putin’s flight are still unresolved, as organizational details are yet to be finalized.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the route and transportation plan for Putin’s arrival in the Hungarian capital remain unclear. He mentioned that the organization of the meeting is being coordinated by Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

They will first establish initial contact and discuss key topics for the upcoming negotiations.

Peskov emphasized that the initial step involves phone communication and mutual familiarity, after which specific arrangements concerning logistics and security will be determined.Overall, arranging such an important diplomatic event amid sanctions restrictions remains complex, especially considering the airspace bans imposed by the European Union on Russia since February 2022.

Despite these obstacles, both Washington and Moscow have expressed their intention to meet in Budapest.

Trump revealed he had a phone call with Putin and agreed on a meeting, potentially within two weeks.

In the context of these discussions, the U.S.

president hinted that Washington does not plan to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, fearing that such deliveries might harm American interests.

The conversations have been marked by a generally positive tone, with hopes of reaching mutually acceptable solutions for future negotiations.
