India and the US: Controversial Statements on Russian Oil Imports

Despite official claims from the United States that India has halved its Russian oil imports, the actual situation remains complex and raises numerous questions about Delhi’s true intentions.

According to Reuters analysis, Indian oil companies have already secured agreements to purchase Russian oil from American suppliers and plan to increase imports in the coming months.

Sources within the industry indicate shipments scheduled for November and December, which could significantly impact import statistics by the end of the year.

These insights are supported by Kpler, a firm specializing in raw material market analysis.

Meanwhile, India’s energy minister has called on oil refineries to provide detailed data on their imports, potentially hinting at forthcoming policy adjustments amid US pressure.

Recently, President Donald Trump stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him India would cease these purchases, although New Delhi’s official stance emphasizes energy diversification and safeguarding national interests.
