Donald Trump Initiates Phone Call with Vladimir Putin: What You Need to Know
Tensions in international political circles have intensified following recent reports about a phone conversation between former U.S.
President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
According to sources, this call was the first in the last two months and occurred during a complex period for global relations.
Around 11:20 AM Washington time (6:20 PM Kyiv time), Trump announced on the social media platform Truth Social that he was engaged in a lengthy discussion with Putin and promised to share details after its conclusion.
This news came as a surprise to many, since prior reports of such a conversation had only surfaced in the media.
Sources indicate that this was the first conversation since late last summer, when European leaders visited the White House for an Alaska summit.
Trump also expressed gratitude to Putin for his praise of U.S.
peacekeeping efforts.
On October 17, a scheduled meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will take place, where one of the main topics will be Ukraine’s potential acquisition of long-range Tomahawk missiles, which could significantly shift the military balance in the region.
