Trump Announces Possible Move of the 2028 Olympics from Los Angeles Amid Domestic Unrest

Former U.S.

President Donald Trump made an unexpected announcement regarding the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics scheduled to be hosted in Los Angeles.

He stated that if the city’s authorities fail to adequately prepare for the event, he is willing to relocate the Games to another city or country.

Trump emphasized that obtaining approval from international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee might be necessary, but he is determined to do everything possible to ensure the success of the Games.

He also pointed out that ongoing protests in the U.S., sparked earlier this summer by immigration policies of the Trump administration, could influence decisions on the event’s location.

The Olympics are planned to take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028.

Additionally, in light of internal political and social issues, Trump prohibited the Iranian delegation from attending the World Cup draw in the U.S.

He previously threatened to move the 2026 World Cup matches from Boston if local organizers did not meet his demands.
