Germany announces additional military aid to Ukraine exceeding 2 billion euros

Germany has taken a significant step in supporting Ukraine amidst its ongoing resistance against Russian aggression.

During the 31st international ‘Ramstein’ format meeting, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorious officially announced an additional aid package exceeding 2 billion euros.

This substantial support will greatly enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities and will include a broad spectrum of weapons and equipment.

Ukraine is set to receive missile defense systems, including Patriot interceptors, radar complexes, high-precision artillery, rockets, and munitions.

Furthermore, Germany will provide two additional IRIS-T air defense systems with a large number of guided missiles, portable air defense missile systems, anti-tank weapons, and modern communication devices.

The minister emphasized that this assistance will be complemented by a modernization project for already supplied weaponry, aimed at extending its operational lifespan and adapting it to contemporary wartime needs.

Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation between Ukrainian and German defense industries is planned to be signed, fostering closer collaboration and technology exchange.

Pistorious highlighted that this continued partnership will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacity and help respond to new challenges in the ongoing conflict.

It is noteworthy that this aid is being provided amid recent funding cuts.

In June, Berlin approved support nearly one billion euros less than originally planned.

The minister pointed out that this year’s support will amount to 9.2 billion euros, compared to only 8.3 billion euros in the official budget proposal, hinting at future adjustments and additional funding sources.
