On October 3rd, in the Irish city of Kilkenny, a prestigious ceremony took place to honor the winners of the IMRO’s Radio Awards, Ireland’s leading national radio recognition.

Ukrainian Odessa-born journalist Yulia Ryabova was awarded in the category “Newcomer of the Year” (Gay Byrne Newcomer of the Year) for her outstanding contributions.

Having moved to Ireland in 2023, she quickly established herself as a prominent voice by becoming a host and producer of the podcast “The New Residents,” broadcast on Radio Kerry, which boasts a daily audience of around 89,000 listeners.

Ryabova’s work focuses on highlighting Ukrainian stories, especially those of refugees who found temporary shelter in Ireland.

She dedicated particular episodes to Ukraine’s Independence Day, discussing mental health challenges and the adaptation process faced by Ukrainians abroad.

Over the past year, she produced two comprehensive documentary radio projects that chronicled the lives of Ukrainian refugees, shedding light on their struggles and resilience.

Ryabova emphasizes her primary mission — keeping Ukraine in the spotlight of Irish and international media, raising awareness about the ongoing crisis at home.

She expressed her gratitude to Radio Kerry’s team for supporting her efforts.

During the award ceremony, she unfurled the Ukrainian flag, demonstrating her patriotism and solidarity with her homeland.

Recently, Ukrainian illustrators Юлія Ґвілім and Женя Полосіна received recognition at the prestigious World Illustration Awards 2025, earning Highly Commended distinctions.

Жене Полосіна was recognized in the ‘Book Covers’ category for her illustration accompanying H.G.

Wells’ short stories, while Юлія Ґвілім was honored in the ‘Children’s Book Illustration’ category for her original work titled “Kryak!”.

These achievements showcase the rising prominence of Ukrainian artists and media professionals on the global stage, promoting Ukraine’s cultural values and identity worldwide.
