On Monday in Kyiv, during the third International Defense Industry Forum (DFNC3), an important announcement was made regarding Slovakia’s continued support for Ukraine.

Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák officially stated that the country is preparing its 14th aid package, which includes engineering and mine-clearing equipment, as well as other resources aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

A memorandum concerning these supplies was signed by him and Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

During his speech at the forum, Kaliňák emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is deepening, with plans to identify potential projects to expand military collaboration.

He also highlighted that since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Slovakia has increased its production of artillery shells 15 times and indirect fire systems threefold.

The minister noted that ongoing cooperation has already yielded tangible results, including the completion of a joint project supplying 16 Zuzana automatic howitzers.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed the new aid package, which includes five mine-clearing vehicles, engineering and construction equipment, transport vehicles, and medical evacuation tools.

Shmyhal expressed gratitude for the assistance already provided and added that the country is working on preparing a fifteenth support package.

Despite political fluctuations, Slovakia demonstrates consistent support for Ukraine since the beginning of the war, contributing 13 aid packages so far.

However, in November 2023, the Fico government officially did not approve the aid package worth over 40 million euros, initially prepared by the previous government, sparking ongoing debates about future cooperation.

This situation highlights the complex political and military landscape in the region yet marks a new chapter in Ukraine-Slovakia military relations.
