Russia launches massive attack on Ukraine: nearly 500 drones and over 50 missiles in a night assault

On the night of October 4th to 5th, Russia carried out a large-scale and highly aggressive attack on Ukraine, deploying over 500 drones and dozens of missiles of various types.

According to official data from the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched 496 strike drones, including 250 Shahed-type UAVs capable of targeting strategic objectives.

Additionally, 53 missiles were fired: nine Kalibr cruise missiles, two hypersonic Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, and 42 X-101/Iskander-K missiles.

The primary target was the Lviv region, as the aggressors aimed to destroy military and civilian infrastructure in the area.Ukrainian defenders made significant efforts to counter this massive assault.

They successfully destroyed and suppressed 439 UAVs, which accounts for over 88% of the total drones launched, as well as six Kalibr missiles, 32 X-101/Iskander-K missiles, and one Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missile.

This incident once again demonstrates the high professionalism of the Ukrainian military and their capacity to combat a diverse and powerful attack aimed at destroying Ukraine’s infrastructure and inciting panic among civilians.

The operation lasted several hours and is considered one of the largest in the ongoing confrontation between Ukraine and Russia.
