Amid the ongoing war and crisis, educators working in the most challenging regions of Ukraine are set to receive additional financial support.

The Ukrainian government has made a significant decision to raise monthly bonuses for teachers serving in 84 communities across several eastern and southern oblasts, including Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

According to this decision, teachers will receive an extra 4,000 hryvnias per month after taxes.

This support aims to alleviate some of the hardships faced by educational staff amid ongoing conflicts, helping to stabilize the education system during difficult times.

The new allowances extend to over 25,000 teachers who continue their duties under war conditions and displacement.

Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko emphasized that these payments will be accrued starting in October, covering the period from September 1.

The Ministry of Education and Science stated that the amount of the supplement depends on workload; teachers working above the standard hours will receive proportionally higher compensation.

As part of broader social initiatives, the government plans to increase teachers’ salaries by 50% in 2026, provide free meals for 4.4 million students, and double stipends for over 163,000 students—measures aimed at strengthening the educational system even amid the ongoing conflict.
