Changes in Retirement Rules for Educators in 2025: How Much Service Is Needed for a Length-of-Service Pension
In Ukraine, starting from 2025, new conditions have been introduced regarding early retirement for education workers through length-of-service pensions.
Now, teachers who have reached the age of 55 and wish to retire under this scheme must have accumulated at least 30 years of teaching experience.
This significant reform alters previous regulations, under which length-of-service retirement was granted after 25 years of work experience regardless of age.
It is important to note that only those educators who accumulated the required pensionable стаж before 2016 are eligible for more favorable conditions.
Others will need to wait until they reach the standard retirement age or work additional years to meet the required стаж.
The length-of-service pension applies to teachers of general education schools, kindergarten educators, workers at internats, extracurricular institutions, and vocational colleges.
It is crucial to remember that applying for this pension is only possible after leaving the position that grants such rights.
If an individual takes up a similar position again, pension payments are temporarily suspended but will resume later.
More detailed information about pension amounts can be obtained for those who have worked for 45 years, as this influences the pension sum.
