Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán made a strong statement indicating that the European Union currently lacks sufficient financial resources to continue supporting Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

According to him, backing Kyiv is both economically and financially unviable, as EU countries have already spent over 175 billion euros and are required to continually allocate tens of billions more each year to maintain stability and security.

Orbán emphasized that this strategy is economically unjustifiable and unsustainable for the EU, as member states do not have additional funds to sustain such a war while preserving their own economic strength.

At the same time, he mentioned that Hungary might find unexpected allies in efforts to prevent Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, as he has voiced opposition to a rapid integration process.

Orbán also stressed that Ukraine remains insufficiently sovereign and is heavily dependent on external financial aid, which poses risks to its future stability.

These remarks have sparked intense political debates and exacerbated discussions concerning the future of European integration and the bloc’s support for Ukraine.
