Ukrainian forces target Russian missile ship ‘Buyan-M’: operational details revealed

During a major military operation, Ukrainian defenders successfully attacked one of Russia’s most modern missile ships, the ‘Buyan-M,’ which belongs to the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation.
The incident occurred at dawn while the vessel was transitioning from the Baltic Sea to the Caspian Sea, navigating the Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the ship was hit on the right section of the power unit compartment, causing significant damage.
This vessel, introduced into the Russian fleet in May 2023, is equipped with the advanced ‘Caliber-NK’ missile systems.
The Ukrainian military considers this operation a crucial step in securing maritime approaches and asserting control over strategic waters.
Details of the incident are still being clarified, but it is confirmed that the ‘Buyan-M’ is among the newest and most sophisticated ships in the Russian fleet, and its damage marks a notable blow to Russia’s maritime military presence in the Baltic Sea.
