The European Union has decided to extend its individual sanctions against Russia for another year — until October 9, 2026.

This move comes in response to continuing hybrid activities by the Kremlin, including information manipulation, interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and destabilization efforts beyond Russia’s borders.

The sanctions list targets 47 individuals and 15 organizations, among them those responsible for maintaining destabilizing actions.

Notably, Vasyl Medvedchuk — a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his allies Artem Marchhevsky and Oleg Voloshin — are included.

Also under sanctions is their media platform Voice of Europe.

These restrictive measures involve freezing assets, banning financial transactions, and prohibiting individuals from entering the European Union or transiting through its territory.

EU officials emphasized that these sanctions aim to curb Russia’s activities that threaten European values, security, stability, and independence.

Moreover, the EU plans to strengthen pressure on key sectors of Russia’s economy, including financial and energy spheres, through additional restrictions.

In September, the European Commission approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, proposing bans on Russian LNG imports into the EU until 2027, a year earlier than initially planned.
