Elon Musk Calls to Cancel Netflix Over Transgender Character in Children’s Show

Renowned businessman and tech magnate Elon Musk, the wealthiest person in the world with an estimated fortune of around 500 billion dollars, made a provocative statement that sparked widespread public discussion.

Through his 227 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), he urged a boycott of the popular streaming platform Netflix.

The reason for his criticism was an episode from the animated series «Dead End: Paranormal Park», produced in 2022 and canceled a year later.

The episode featured a transgender character named Barney.

Musk claims that the platform promotes an «agenda-driven» perspective and «brainwashes children».

This led to outrage among supporters and parents, who accuse Netflix of indoctrination and promotion of transgender ideology.

Musk, who has repeatedly posted calls to «cancel Netflix», emphasizes that such content contributes to «altering children’s perceptions» and undermines traditional values.

The clash comes amid a series of controversies around Netflix’s content, including previous accusations over films like «Cuties» and the platform’s defense of controversial figures.

Actor Zak Barkan, the first openly transgender actor in the Marvel cinematic universe, responded by saying that participating in such projects saved his life and called for tolerance.

Meanwhile, Netflix stock dropped by 2.4% following Musk’s posts, but the company continues its operations despite calls for boycotts.

Critics suggest this conflict is part of a larger cultural battle in today’s world, where issues of gender and identity are increasingly politicized.

This situation raises questions about striking a balance between free expression and protecting children in the modern digital era.
