Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking publicly after his recent meeting with U.S.

counterpart Donald Trump, stated that Ukraine’s armed forces already possess the capability to respond to Russian attacks using current long-range weapons.

However, he expressed hope for receiving additional means to bolster the country’s defense.

He emphasized that Ukrainian forces have never targeted civilian infrastructure in Russia and respond solely to Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

“We have never attacked civilian objects in Russia; our actions are only in reply to Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

He added that about a year ago, Ukraine lacked the capacity to respond effectively, as Russian troops systematically caused blackouts and other destructive acts throughout Ukraine.

But now, he explained, the situation has changed, and Ukrainian forces are able to deliver a worthy response that makes aggressors feel the strength of Ukrainian defense.

Zelensky also highlighted the need for increased funding to develop the country’s defense capabilities further, hoping that future aid and agreements with the U.S.

will help strengthen the Ukrainian military.

He stressed the importance of international support, which remains crucial in countering Russia’s aggression and ensuring Ukraine’s security.
