On Wednesday, October 1st, the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine made a significant decision regarding the well-known Russian actor Valery Nikolaev, officially recognizing him as a threat to Ukraine’s national security.

This decision followed extensive monitoring of the actor’s public statements in media and social networks, during which experts documented his dissemination of anti-Ukrainian messages and propaganda supporting the ongoing war against Ukraine.

The Facebook statement announced that Nikolaev actively promotes ideas of the ‘Russian world’ and openly supports pro-Russian positions, demonstrating backing for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Specifically, he justifies Russia’s actions and denies Ukraine’s sovereignty publicly and overtly.

The agency also reported that the actor visited temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine unlawfully, publicly expressing support for the occupation authorities, thus legitimizing the actions of the invaders.

Considering these facts, the National Council decided to add Nikolaev to the Register of Persons Endangering National Security and plans to request the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications to formally include him in this list.

Currently, the register comprises 211 individuals, including 55 who were removed a year before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
