Restricted Public Access to the Case Files of Andriy Parubiy’s Murder: What Lies Behind the Investigation’s Decision
Official representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the decision to restrict public access to judicial documents related to the murder of former Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy.
This step was taken to ensure the effectiveness of the investigation and to prevent potential threats to the safety of witnesses and participants involved in the criminal proceedings.
According to the SBU press service, disclosing any details of the investigation could hinder the truth-finding process and endanger the lives and health of those connected to this high-profile case.
Due to these circumstances, the investigator decided to close public access to court rulings stored in the judicial records registry.
This move has stirred discussions about balancing transparency in justice with safeguarding the security of those involved.
Recall that Andriy Parubiy was shot dead on August 30 in Lviv’s Sykhiv district, succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
Law enforcement swiftly detained the suspect, who claimed his motive was to receive money from Russian intelligence services and escape abroad.
At the time of arrest, he attempted to hide evidence, used multiple vehicles, and waited for an promised reward.
On September 2, a memorial service was held in Lviv for the politician, attended by his friends, colleagues, and concerned citizens.
The same day, the suspect admitted to the murder, sharing his motives and contacts with Russian special services.
