In Germany, the city of Munich has temporarily suspended the festivities of one of the world’s most famous festivals — Oktoberfest, amid serious incidents that involved explosions and gunfire.

The decision to close the event was prompted by threats sent by an anonymous offender, as well as by recent explosions and shooting incidents reported in the northern part of the city.

Munich’s mayor, Dieter Reiter, announced that police are actively investigating and conducting search operations across the festival grounds to ensure the safety of attendees.

According to him, law enforcement is carrying out a comprehensive search of all tents and pavilions by the evening, aiming to guarantee the safety of visitors.

If the situation remains tense or uncontrolled, authorities have warned that Oktoberfest could remain closed until further notice.

The circumstances surrounding these events have raised concerns about possible far-right motives, with speculation about links to extremist groups, although police have not yet confirmed such theories.

Additionally, overnight reports include other incidents such as the arson of a family’s house, which resulted in the suicide of the suspect.

All these events have put the festival under increased security scrutiny, especially as this year marks the 190th anniversary of the celebration.

Traditionally held on Theresienwiese, the festival includes over 150 attractions, large tents, and numerous booths.

The rising beer prices, exceeding €15 per half-liter, have also caused discontent among visitors, prompting discussions about the festival’s affordability and the economic pressures faced by attendees during this historic event.
