The Ukrainian national football team faces potential setbacks in October as two of its leading players are at risk of missing crucial qualification games for the 2026 World Cup due to injuries.

According to sources, defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, who plays for Nottingham Forest in England, sustained a groin muscle injury during his club matches and is currently recovery, with no official details on the severity of the injury at this moment.

Meanwhile, Spanish winger Viktor Tsygankov continues rehabilitation from his recent injury and has not yet regained full fitness to rejoin the team.

Tsygankov has missed the last five matches for Girona, and the coaching staff prefers to prioritize his health rather than risking aggravation during national team duties.

The Ukrainian team started its qualification campaign with a defeat to France and a draw against Azerbaijan.

In October, on the 10th, Ukraine will play an away match against Iceland, followed by a game against Azerbaijan three days later.

The potential absence of these key players could significantly impact Ukraine’s chances in the qualification process, which remains critical as they aim to secure a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
