Ukrainian Air Defense Successfully Intercepts Over One-Third of Drones During Nighttime Russian Attack
On the night of September 29, Ukrainian air defense forces demonstrated remarkable efficiency and capability in countering enemy drone assaults on Ukrainian territory.
According to official reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched 32 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types, predominantly kamikaze drones such as Shahed and Hermera, targeting Ukraine.
The attack originated from regions near the Russian border — Bryansk, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk — and was carried out starting from 8 p.m.
on September 28.
Ukrainian aviation units, along with radio-electronic warfare systems and mobile firing groups of the defense forces, actively engaged each target with the goal of neutralizing the threat.
Preliminary data as of 9 a.m.
on September 29 indicate that 23 drones were either shot down or suppressed.
Of these, nine kamikaze UAVs struck eight different locations within the country, causing damage at several strategic sites.
Although the attack was significant, Ukrainian defenses managed to mitigate its impact, ensuring the safety of civilians and critical infrastructure.
This successful interception underscores the resilience and technological prowess of Ukraine’s military in facing ongoing aerial threats.
