Ukraine Prepares for the Heating Season: «Resilience Points» and Energy Security Amid Winter Cold

Chas Pravdy - 29 September 2025 01:31

The country is actively preparing for the approaching cold season, with the Ukrainian government implementing extensive measures to ensure warmth and safety for its population.

According to recent updates, all necessary preparations to commence the new heating season are scheduled to be completed by October 15, including the deployment of resilience points and the installation of additional generators.

Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced via her Telegram channel that the start of heating supply will depend on weather conditions: heat will be redirected when the average daily temperature drops below +8 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.

She emphasized that due to ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, especially before winter, it is crucial to act swiftly to provide uninterrupted electricity and heat to Ukrainian communities.

The government has intensified efforts to stabilize the situation by ensuring continuous electricity and gas supplies to frontline and affected areas.

Part of these measures includes the establishment and enhancement of resilience points, as well as the development of distributed generation systems, which are vital for maintaining stability if infrastructure is damaged.

Additionally, the government encourages apartment associations and housing cooperatives to leverage the «Affordable Credits 5-7-9%» program for installing alternative energy sources, an important contribution to mitigating rising tariffs.

Meanwhile, the European Commission allocated €40 million to support civilians during winter, further reinforcing Ukraine’s resilience amidst ongoing conflict.
