Significant Weather Changes in Ukraine: Forecasters Predict Rain and Cold Snap in Early October

Chas Pravdy - 29 September 2025 01:33

At the beginning of October, Ukrainian regions find themselves amid unexpected climatic shifts, raising concerns among residents and meteorologists alike.

According to leading weather experts, including Ihor Kibalchich, in the initial days of the month, Ukraine will experience typical fluctuations in weather conditions.

Starting from late September and continuing through the first week of October, the country will be under the influence of cyclonic activity, with atmospheric fronts bringing frequent rain and precipitation.

In the Carpathian Mountains, occasional wet snow and lowered temperatures are expected.

The warmest areas will be in the southeast, where daytime temperatures may reach up to +18°C.

Most regions, especially in the west and north, will face unexpected cooling and light rains, possibly affecting mountainous areas of the Carpathians.

Winds will predominantly blow from the east and northeast at speeds of 5–10 m/s, with gusts reaching 15–20 m/s in some places.

Nighttime temperatures are predicted to vary between +4°C and +10°C, while daytime temperatures will range from +8°C to +18°C.

During the first days of October, cyclonic activity will dominate the weather pattern, leading to significant rainfall, especially in central and western Ukraine, with thunderstorms also possible.

Residents in the east and south should anticipate less precipitation, although occasional showers and thunderstorms are still possible.

In the Carpathians, frequent wet snowfalls may further complicate local conditions for residents and tourists.

Over the coming days, cyclonic systems will intensify, bringing more rain, lowering temperatures, and initiating a noticeable cold spell approaching the seasonal norms for this time of year.
