Kyiv recovers after devastating Russian attack: rescue operations completed and casualties summarized

In the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, tension remains high following a large-scale airstrike carried out by Russian forces overnight on September 28.

The massive missile and drone attack resulted in extensive damage to dozens of buildings, with hundreds of residents requiring medical and rescue assistance.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), emergency rescue operations, which lasted throughout the day, were fully completed by evening.

Over 300 rescuers and about 70 units of equipment worked tirelessly to clear the aftermath of the attack.Kyiv’s military leader Timur Tkachenko reported a significant number of casualties.

He stated that four people were killed, including a 12-year-old girl, and 13 others were injured of varying severity.

Psychologists provided support to 25 affected individuals.

Tragically, one woman succumbed to stress and lost her life in a shelter.

Besides human losses, many residential buildings and infrastructure suffered damage.

In the Solomianskyi district alone, 27 objects were damaged, nine of which were private properties.

Overall, about a thousand homes across Kyiv experienced window breakages and façade damages.Humanitarian teams operated actively throughout the city, assisting over 500 civilians and casualties in the Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

Nine Kyiv residents were temporarily relocated to dormitories.

The attack also affected other regions of Ukraine, with more than 70 individuals wounded.

This night marked one of the most brutal assaults on Kyiv, and the situation remains tense despite the completion of emergency recovery efforts.
