Zelensky Responds to UN Security Council Decision on Sanctions Against Iran and Ukraine’s Role in Global Security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated the importance of global unity in combating breaches of international law and threats to world security.
Amid the recent UN Security Council decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran for ignoring IAEA requirements and nuclear norms, the Ukrainian leader called on the international community to take decisive action and consolidate efforts.
He emphasized that sanctions are a crucial instrument to deter any threats arising from illegal nuclear activities and violations of international agreements.
Zelensky also expressed concern over Russia’s parallel actions with Iran, notably its illegal control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is used as a factor of global danger.
Such actions increase global tension and pose significant security risks.
He stressed that tough sanctions against Russia’s nuclear sector and increased international pressure are essential to strengthen global safety.
Supporting diplomatic initiatives, Zelensky urged for increased pressure on countries violating international law and highlighted the need for united measures to confront irresponsible regimes capable of destabilizing the world through nuclear threats.
