High-ranking military official injured in stabbing incident in Czech Republic

A recent incident in the Czech Republic has drawn public and military attention after a high-ranking general and leader of military intelligence, Brigadier General Roman Gıtga, was severely injured in a stabbing attack.

According to reports and official sources, the incident occurred on September 26 at an unspecified location, likely in a restaurant or bar where the general was present privately.

Local journalists and military officials confirmed that the victim is an experienced veteran of Afghan missions, responsible for deploying drone-based weapon systems in the Ukrainian army.

As stated by the military police spokesperson Nikola Rımkević Haikova, the circumstances of the event are currently under investigation, with investigators examining all details.

Meanwhile, the Czech president’s office noted that the head of state proposed shooting down Russian aircraft violating the country’s airspace to ensure national security.

Gıtga confirmed he received a stab wound during the attack and sustained serious injuries requiring urgent hospitalization and medical intervention.

He added that he prefers not to comment on the attacker’s motives or details of the incident at this time, emphasizing that the inquiry is ongoing and authorities are working to establish the circumstances behind the assault.
