Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Urges Global Response to Destabilization at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant due to Russia’s Actions
Ukrainian energy and security authorities once again emphasize the gravity of the situation surrounding the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which remains one of the most critical points on the energy front.
Russia, motivated by strategic objectives, continues to ignore international norms and agreements, deliberately creating threats to Ukraine’s security and that of the entire continent.
The occupied ZNPP is operating without connection to the Ukrainian power grid, relying solely on diesel generators as a temporary and unstable measure.
According to NEEK ‘Energoatom,’ on September 23, Russian military forces damaged a transmission line during yet another provocation, which was meant to connect the station to the Ukrainian energy system.
The company stresses that this line is controlled by Ukraine, remains in good condition, and there are no technical obstacles to its restoration.
However, Russia is spreading disinformation, claiming that Ukrainian military forces shell the territory around the station and the damaged power line, thereby denying the truth.
Concurrently, Russian troops are actively redeploying forces from the Zaporizhzhia region, preparing for a potential offensive, while attempting to create chaos and trigger a technological crisis.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy and Security is calling on the international community to increase diplomatic pressure on the aggressor country to prevent a nuclear catastrophe and ensure the safety of Europe and the world.
