Chas Pravdy - 25 September 2025 16:34

On the morning of September 25, residents of Sumy awakened to a new series of aerial attacks carried out by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting both residential and industrial areas of the city.

Throughout the day, city authorities recorded several strikes, particularly in the Zakarchny and Kovpaky districts, where drones of the ‘Italmas’ type were reportedly used.

According to available information, at least four explosions occurred during these attacks, sparking panic and damaging property among citizens.

Notably, two drones crashed into the premises of a private enterprise, destroying storage facilities and damaging vehicles in the area.

Additionally, another drone struck a residential sector, shattering 27 windows in multi-storey buildings and causing significant psychological stress for inhabitants, especially older residents.

The so-called ‘hot’ zone also experienced a blow from a military drone near the city’s utility infrastructure, which posed an additional threat to critical services.

Deputy Mayor Artem Kobzar reported that rescue and recovery efforts are underway and municipal services are working to restore the damages.

Furthermore, reports indicate multiple injuries among civilians, including an elderly woman who experienced a severe stress reaction.

Regionally, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Grygorov, warned residents about the possibility of future strikes and urged caution, acknowledging the ongoing threat of repeated attacks from the Russian armed forces.

Meanwhile, in northern Ukraine, including Chernihiv, widespread strikes on critical infrastructure are making the situation more tense and difficult, adding to regional instability.
