How to Properly Obtain a Veterinary Passport for Pets in Ukraine: Guidelines and Important Details

Authorities in the State Service of Veterinary Medicine have provided explanations on the procedures and requirements involved in acquiring this document.The process begins with a visit to a state veterinary clinic, where specialists conduct a thorough examination of the animal and record its basic information.
To obtain a passport, it is necessary to have identification proof such as a microchip or a brand stamped no later than July 3, 2011.
It is also crucial that the passport includes detailed data about these identifiers.
Additionally, proof of rabies vaccination must be provided — this document should specify the vaccination date, vaccine name, batch number, veterinarian’s full name and signature, as well as the official stamp of the veterinary establishment.
This process creates a long-term document valid for the entire life of the animal.Regarding vaccination history, current regulations specify that old vaccination records cannot be transferred into the veterinary passport.
Owners are advised to keep all vaccination certificates separately.
Before vaccination, vets recommend treating the animal for internal and external parasites to ensure maximum protection and optimal immune response.Can a veterinarian refuse to issue a passport? Yes, if the vet cannot examine the animal or if there is no identification marker (microchip or brand).
