Following the conclusion of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, celebrated mainly in Uman and other regions, there has been a significant surge in border crossings at Ukraine’s checkpoints.

According to the State Border Guard Service, the number of travelers crossing into Moldova and Poland has sharply increased after the holiday period, leading to delays in document processing and long queues. As of 2:00 PM today, queues formed at several major crossing points.

On the Moldovan border, Palanka-Maiki-Udobne experienced about 80 cars waiting, Starokozache — 40 vehicles, Moghiliiv-Podilskiy — 70, Borynia — 60.

The situation on the Polish border is also tense, with Krakivets seeing over 100 cars lined up, and Shyaginy almost 120 vehicles, with pedestrian crossings also significantly increased.Other crossing points currently have minimal or no queues.

Border guards report that they are operating in heightened mode, mobilizing additional personnel to expedite crossings.

Notably, over 35,000 Hasidic pilgrims have arrived in Uman for Rosh Hashanah celebrations, adding to the heightened border activity. This situation underscores the need for enhanced border control measures to ensure safety and smooth passage, considering the large influx of pilgrims and travelers during this festive season.
