Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a recent discussion with his American counterpart Donald Trump, made a candid statement regarding China’s position in the context of the Ukrainian conflict.

He expressed that Kyiv perceives no signs of Beijing’s willingness to facilitate a swift resolution to the war or show active support for Ukraine.

Zelensky emphasized that, in his view, China appears indifferent or uninterested in a long-term resolution, which causes concern.

The Ukrainian leader shared this information following his meeting with Trump amidst growing international tensions.

In his remarks, he stated: “I shared with President Trump that I do not sense any indication that China is actively interested in ending this war.

They seem to remain on the sidelines, not showing a desire to help bring the fighting to an end.

I cannot say exactly why — it might be due to economic interests or historical reasons, but we truly do not see their desire to promote peace.

That is why I believe President Trump could play a crucial role in changing this situation, as his diplomatic influence could catalyze positive changes.” Earlier, on September 23, during his speech at the UN General Assembly, Trump highlighted: “China and India are key financiers of this ongoing war — because they continue to buy Russian oil, which allows Russia to sustain its military efforts.” Such remarks underline the complexity and multifaceted nature of international relations surrounding the conflict, stressing the importance of diplomatic dialogue among world leaders.
