Zelensky Calls for Ceasefire to Hold Elections in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly states that the country is prepared to conduct elections provided a nationwide ceasefire is achieved.
In his recent interview with Fox News, he emphasized that the possibility of holding elections remains open only if significant security guarantees and a halt to hostilities on the front lines are in place.
Zelensky highlighted that although the Constitution stipulates elections be held within a specific timeframe, the actual implementation currently depends on the battlefield situation and the support of international allies.
He noted that Ukraine is ready for elections but only if partners provide substantial assistance and security assurances to ensure a safe voting process.
Zelensky added that without stabilization in the conflict zones and guarantees on the front lines, the issue of elections will remain unresolved.
