Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has openly criticized China’s stance concerning the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing that Beijing remains silent and passive instead of taking necessary steps towards peace.

During a session of the UN Security Council dedicated to the Ukraine situation, Zelensky pointed out that China, as one of the world’s leading nations, wields significant influence over Russia’s foreign policy.

He stressed that Russia’s military actions heavily depend on China’s support, and if China truly wanted to promote peace, it could compel Putin to halt his aggression.”China is a powerful country, from which much of influence in our region stems, and its silence is deeply concerning,” the head of state declared.

He added that the United States, also present at the Security Council, supports Ukraine and advocates for diplomatic solutions to end the war.Zelensky highlighted that the ability for countries to influence the situation lies in the hands of major global players and called upon them to act responsibly to stop the destructive war.

Meanwhile, he pointed out that Russia, under Putin, exhibits negative tactics, as the Russian leader fears open negotiations and uses diplomacy only to mask his true intentions, stalling the conflict and buying time for new acts of aggression.
