Temporary Beach Closures in Sochi Amid Drone Attacks on Kuban and Novorossiysk

In the seaside city of Sochi, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and popular tourist destinations, authorities have temporarily closed down beaches amid growing threats from drone attacks targeting coastal cities of the Krasnodar Krai region.
According to the city’s mayor, Andriy Proshunín, access to the seaside zones will remain restricted until the first half of September 25 to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
This measure comes in response to recent drone strikes that struck the port facilities of Novorossiysk on September 24, with the situation being aggravated by the appearance of maritime drones believed to have targeted the port and possibly an oil pier in Tuapse.
As a result, people have been evacuated from beach areas, and in Gelendzhik, all maritime activities and swimming have been prohibited.
The background to these events involves earlier reports from Russian authorities, indicating that drones attacked Novorossiysk, which hosts one of Russia’s key Black Sea naval bases, heightening regional tensions and prompting additional safety measures to protect the population and tourists.
