Over the past year, Ukrainian special services uncovered another large-scale operation by foreign agents aimed at destabilizing the country’s defense system.

According to operational data, a Russian spy was detained in the Lviv region, tasked with collecting and transmitting classified information about Ukraine’s military infrastructure.

The traitor was recruited by Russian intelligence officers, utilizing his former wife—a FSB operative in the temporarily occupied Melinepol.

Investigations revealed that the traitor maintained contact with Russian special services, transmitting coordinates of strategic Ukrainian aviation facilities.

His arrest took place this summer, and the court has now sentenced him to 15 years of imprisonment with property confiscation, under several articles of Ukrainian criminal law, including treason, participation in crimes during martial law, and illegal handling of weapons.

The ex-wife has been formally charged in absentia with treason amid wartime.

Ongoing investigative actions aim to apprehend other individuals involved in this network and dismantle foreign agent activities attempting to undermine Ukraine’s security.
