Russia’s Dependence on China: Why Beijing Holds the Key to Global Conflict and Peace

Amid recent statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the role of China in global politics and conflicts becomes increasingly significant.

Zelensky emphasized that Russia, currently under sanctions and international isolation, is entirely dependent on China in its foreign policy and military actions.

According to the Ukrainian leader, Beijing could serve as a catalyst for ending the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine, as without China’s support, Moscow would no longer be able to sustain its military campaigns as it does now.

Zelensky also noted that Chinese ships have entered occupied Crimea several times, although Beijing has so far refrained from active diplomatic support for peace, instead remaining a silent observer.

He stressed that the global community, particularly the United States, remains a vital partner for Ukraine but called for more active U.S.

efforts to end the conflict.

He added that Kyiv’s proposals for negotiations with Moscow have been openly communicated, focusing on the desire for peace, but the Kremlin has sought to sabotage the diplomatic process.

Zelensky believes that only persistent international efforts, especially from the U.S., can bring an end to the war and help Ukraine reclaim its territories and restore peace.
