Russian Forces Reinforce Attacks Near Kostiantynivka: New Tactics and Modern Warfare Technologies

Intense fighting continues in the Kostiantynivka area of Donetsk region, reflecting evolving tactics and the increasing use of advanced technology by Russian forces.
Recent reports highlight that Russian troops have intensified their assault operations here, predominantly deploying attack and reconnaissance drones, raising concerns among Ukrainian defenders.
Sergeant Roz, of the 39th Drone Systems Battalion, shared in a televised marathon that the enemy has shifted their tactics on this part of the front.
While in August they relied on small reconnaissance groups and occasional armored vehicle attacks near Kostiantynivka, now they concentrate their main forces along roads, conducting targeted strikes aimed at consolidating control over key routes.
Ukrainian military analysts observe active drone operations in the region, which, while supporting infantry actions, pose an additional challenge to the occupying forces.
Expert Tregubov states that the use of drone swarms signifies a modern approach to warfare in the 21st century.
As noted, in early 2024, Russian military science launched a large-scale effort to find new ways to break the deadlock created by static positions on the front, recognizing the critical role of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
These developments are part of a broader strategy to control strategic points, especially in and around Kramatorsk, where Russians aim to create ‘claws’ around the Kostiantynivka-Sloviansk conurbation.
Former commander of the Azov Battalion, Bogdan ‘Tavr’ Krotevych, warns that Kostiantynivka is effectively in semi-encirclement, emphasizing the need for coordinated and decisive action by Ukrainian forces to prevent further encirclement and stabilize the front line.
