Zaporizhzhia Region Under Attack: Russian Drones and Gliding Bombs Spark Night Explosions

The Zaporizhzhia region experienced a series of powerful explosions during the early hours of September 23, marking the continuation of intense military actions by Russian forces.

According to the regional military administration, the area was targeted by drone strikes and guided aerial bombs overnight.

Information about these attacks surfaced in the early morning, when Zaporizhzhia’s governor, Ivan Fedorov, reported multiple series of explosions that woke the residents and caused widespread panic.

Alerts about possible airstrikes had been issued well in advance, particularly through Telegram messages early in the morning.

At 00:08, launches of calibration rockets or other guided munitions towards the regional center were recorded, followed by repeated explosions.

At 00:12, regional officials confirmed the deployment of combat drones, including kamikaze drones, targeting the Zavodskyi district of Zaporizhzhia city.

Local residents remain on high alert, urging everyone to stay in safe places.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Forces have not officially confirmed strikes on Zaporizhzhia or the broader region.

The alarm has been ongoing for over seven hours — since 17:15 on September 22 — highlighting the heightened danger and tense security situation in the region.
