Polish law enforcement officials detained a Belarusian citizen working as a taxi driver, who was found to possess a list of individuals from the Belarusian diaspora residing in Poland.

This incident has prompted an investigation suggesting possible ties to espionage activities in favor of the Belarusian regime.

According to sources, including reports from RMF24, the suspect was apprehended near the border in Białystok in early September.

During the search, authorities discovered a list of Belarusians who had sought political asylum in Poland, raising suspicions about potential surveillance or intelligence-gathering tasks assigned by Belarusian intelligence services. The investigation is currently focused on determining whether the taxi driver received orders to monitor these individuals, or if there were attempts at provocations or efforts to damage their reputation.

Poland’s internal security agencies are working to identify everyone on the list and plan to summon them for interrogation regarding possible surveillance or threats they may have experienced.

The man faces charges related to activities on behalf of foreign intelligence services, posing serious criminal risks.

The news also references similar cases elsewhere, mentioning recent arrests of individuals suspected of espionage for Russia in Latvia, and a Colombian convicted in Romania for planning sabotage activities directed by Russian intelligence.
