In a scandal that has shocked the Kenyan public, the country has officially begun investigating reports of its citizens being forcibly recruited for military conflicts abroad, particularly in relation to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to information disseminated by the Center for Countering Disinformation and confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several Kenyans were deceitfully lured to Russia, where they were coerced into signing contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

These cases have sparked significant concern as they highlight not only human rights violations but also the strategic use of African individuals by Russia to reproduce colonial tactics, using them as cheap labor and ‘cannon fodder’ for war.

The Kenyan Foreign Ministry stresses that this scandal exemplifies how Moscow attempts to exploit African nations within its geopolitical games, masking its objectives behind rhetoric of fighting colonialism, while actually dismantling any prospects for development and sovereignty in African countries.

The situation calls for urgent international attention and action to protect African citizens from exploitation and abuse in such military manipulations.
