EU Announces 200 Million Euro Support for School Meals in Ukraine
The European Union plans to allocate approximately 200 million euros to Ukraine to bolster the country’s school nutrition programs.
This announcement was made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a significant meeting of the International Coalition focused on the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russian authorities.
In her speech, she emphasized the enormous humanitarian needs within Ukraine.
She stated: “Vladimir and Olena, I am pleased to announce that we are ready to dedicate around 200 million euros to support school meals for Ukrainian children.
It is crucial for us to understand the importance of this help and to extend our support to your children during these difficult times.” Von der Leyen also noted that earlier, the European Commission committed an additional 40 million euros in humanitarian aid to help Ukrainians get through yet another winter amid the ongoing war.
Meanwhile, the UK announced a donation of 142 million pounds to assist Ukraine during the winter, and Norway declared plans to support Ukraine with gas supplies ahead of the cold season.
