As the destructive super typhoon «Ragasa» approaches from the northern waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Hong Kong region and southern China are on heightened alert.

On Tuesday, authorities issued a level eight warning, closing schools, offices, and businesses, while canceling over 700 flights.

Residents were advised to stay indoors and prepare for potential emergencies.

Meteorological agencies report that wind speeds in the storm’s center reach up to 220 km/h, posing risks of infrastructure damage and coastal flooding.

The typhoon is expected to hit Guangdong Province by Wednesday, exacerbating the situation along the coast, already marked by evacuations and temporary closures.

In low-lying areas, authorities distributed sandbags to strengthen homes against rising waters, which could reach 4–5 meters, threatening significant flooding.

Authorities urge residents to remain cautious, follow updates, and heed rescue instructions.

Meanwhile, Vietnam, affected earlier by typhoon «Kagik», has declared a state of emergency and begun evacuations of hundreds of thousands in coastal regions.

Reports indicate destruction, flooding, and shortages of essential goods.

Local residents are stockpiling supplies, boarding up windows, and preparing for the severe weather forecasted to worsen tonight.

Emergency services are mobilizing resources to respond to potential damages and assist victims.

This situation underscores the vulnerability of the region to powerful natural disasters, which are escalating due to climate change and inadequate preparedness systems.
