On Monday, a telephone conversation took place between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The main focus of the discussion was on the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and the importance of rapidly and broadly supplying modern air defense systems and missiles.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine requires real protection against Russian strikes and provided partners with a detailed list of specific needs in this area.

Additionally, they discussed the implementation of the PURL program, under which European allies fund the procurement of American weapons, including Patriot air defense systems, for Ukraine.

The President pointed out that these supplies could significantly change the balance of power and limit Russia’s ability to conduct active hostilities.

The conversation also covered joint efforts to shoot down drones over Ukrainian territory, including ideas for establishing partnership mechanisms to respond more effectively to enemy attacks.

An important part of the dialogue was highlighting the need to consolidate international support and further strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacities amid the complex security situation in the region.
