Ukraine and Romania Strengthen Cooperation to Counter Aerial Threats Along Border

In a significant development of diplomatic and military cooperation, Ukraine and Romania have advanced their coordination efforts to counter the escalating threat posed by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attempting to breach their common border.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, engaged in a phone conversation with Romania’s Defense Staff Chief, General George Vlada, during which both military leaders agreed on a set of measures aimed at preventing and neutralizing drone-related threats emanating from Russia.
The dialogue focused on the current situation at the frontlines and the pressing needs of the Ukrainian armed forces, particularly regarding the protection of the southern and southwestern borders susceptible to drone and air attack incursions from the aggressor.
This communication underscores the importance of joint efforts in reinforcing border security and sharing intelligence to prevent airspace intrusions.
Additionally, Commander Syrskyi expressed gratitude to the Romanian government and people for their unwavering political and military support, emphasizing the significance of coordinated actions amidst ongoing hostilities.
The situation intensified last Saturday when Romanian authorities issued a RO-Alert in the Tulcea County’s northern district, warning residents about the potential fall of objects from the airspace.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Coyu announced plans to raise the issue of Russian provocations using drones at the upcoming UN General Assembly, highlighting the wider regional and international implications of these threats and the need for concerted global responses to curb Russian UAV aggression.
